Hoei / Huy   -   Hoei / Huy [ dutch, french and english ] Although Huy is first and foremost a 'daughter of the Meuse', the town also owes its existence to two
confluences of the Meuse, the Mehaigne Hesbignonne and Hoyoux. In fact, this little brook, the Hoyoux, it
would appear, gave the town its name. In the past, this rivulet also supplied the fresh water needed for the
work of the wool and leather workshops and to drive the mills, the presses and the hammers to beat the
copper, brass and iron. For tourists, Huy is a delightfully green and clean town. Why not discover it for
yourself? We suggest you start by climbing up to the Fort and the Sarte. Here you will enjoy a rather
extraordinary view of the Meuse, the town, its four wonders (Li Bassinia, Li Tchestia, Li Rondia and Li Pontia)
and its monuments, not least of all the ornate Collegiate Church. Huy is therefore a place that offers so much
that it takes more than one visit to see it all. After all, it is one of the oldest towns in Belgium. Here are some
suggestions for ways to discover this town on the River Meuse with your family, whether you decide to go on foot, by boat, on a mini-train or by car…
Huy is known for the Wall of Huy, a mountain in La Flèche Wallonne cycling race[ a major men's professional cycle road race held in April each year ] that must be climbed several times.

While wandering on footpaths the visitor is amazed by the enchanting landscape.  An exceptional flora and fauna will surely interest the friend of nature as much as the scientist.
It's the first wealth to discover, the most beautiful, the most abundant.  The forests, the meadows and the
rivers are still preserved from pollution.  The calm and the peace are the masters and they are a good chosen treatment to the tensions and problems that shake our everyday life.
Numerous foot and mountain bike promenades have been traced and marked for the tourism.  They are
printed on a hiking map edited by the tourist office of Malmedy.  The nature clubs of Malmedy organise
regularly guided hikes in the area. Finally you can discover the beauty of the region on a horseback or kayak certain rivers.

niche. In 1717 Tsar Peter the Great, delighted by the effectiveness of his treatment, ordered to fit a
