Funen and Islands - the island of Hans Christian Andersen
Fyn is a treasure-trove, and the whole family can join in the fairy-tale. Once you arrive, perhaps by driving
over one of the spectacular bridges which link Fyn to the rest of Denmark, you are never more than an hour
away from an exciting attraction. The coastline stretches for more than 1100 km and there are 90 islands and
islets, making Fyn the seafaring heart of Denmark. You can enjoy the sea around Fyn by dinghy or aboard a
large wooden ship. Plunge into the clean waters, lie on the miles of beautiful beaches or cast your line from an excellent fishing spot. In fact, Fyn is a paradise for anglers in search of sea-trout.

Als - the beautiful island of Als.

Als is Denmark's 7th largest island. Half of the populations lives in the town of Sønderborg. Als has one of

Rømø
One of Denmark's most fascinating nature areas situated almost 10 kilometres out into the sea at the rim of the roaring North Sea and the life-giving Jutland Wadden Sea.

shipcommodores, which still can be seen today in the many beautiful Rømø farmhouses, and later on the large
number of tourists visiting the island. Owing to the causeway connecting Rømø with the mainland, our

Rømø belongs to the municipality of Skærbæk. Owing to the magnificent nature and the great wilds - more

Tønder - The oldest market town in Denmark.
Toender has always been an active commercial town. In the 16th century as a place of disembarkation of
steers and horses. In the 17th century lace took over and made the town known all over the world.
Visit the marshland and the unique tidal flats or one of the many museums and historical collections. Go for a
guided tour in Schackenborg Palace Garden or a town walk along the old streets in Toender. Witness the most wonderful village street, Slotsgaden, in Moegeltoender, or the greatest Folk- and Jazz
Festival in North Europe, The Toender Festival. That´s up to you, you will find the possibilities in Toender.
Viborg and surrounding area
A visit to Viborg region is a trip through nature, culture and history and an experience for visitors of all ages.
You can experience the wide heathlands of Kongenshus and Ø Bakker and the unspoilt river valleys of
Gudenå and Hald; the gentle Limfjord breeze at Ulbjerg Klint and calm and silence over the wooded hills of Dollerup.
The cultural life of the region has blossomed with markets, music festivals, the Military Road march, open air
theatre, concerts and a host of other gatherings and meetings. Traces of the historical past can be seen
everywhere. From the Iron Age Village at Hvolris, the age old Military Road and not least, Viborg with its ancient cathedral, narrow cobbled streets and houses dating from the 1500s.
Varde
Like several of our oldest towns, Varde is situated where in various ways the landscape favours human
settlement and other activities. The town is thus close to the river, a convenient place of call for ships and at
the same point where the north-south road traffic was able to cross the river – a point which later became the site of a bridge.
Koege Bay
A varied landscape of woodland, beaches, residential areas and attractions characterises the coast from
Køge Bay in the north to Stevns in the south. There is free admission to all our beaches and they are accessible throughout the year.

Bike Berlin Copenhagen
Two pulsating European metropolises, 630 km by bike and a short sea voyage across the Baltic - the new
international Copenhagen-Berlin cycle route links the Danish and German capitals, three idyllic regions and a
lot of friendly people. It offers endless views of unspoiled nature, plenty of opportunities to take a swim and enjoy life, to uncover a few surprises and to make some new discoveries.
The route runs through Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany and through Falster, Møn and Sjælland in Denmark.
Himmelbjerget
That Himmelbjerget became a well-known place is first and foremost due to the Danish poet St. St. Blicher.
The story goes that one summer day in 1838 some students, who were on a walking tour, climbed the hill and
became so enthusiastic over the scenic beauty of the place that they wrote to St. St. Blicher suggesting that
he should hold a popular meeting at Himmelbjerget. Blicher accepted the idea with enthusiasm and gathered thousands of people at his meetings, of which the first one was held on August 1, 1839.

different outdoor lakes both above and below the water surface - all year round and in all kinds of weather.
Den Gamle By - The Old Town
A living and breathing experience of what it was like to live and work in a Danish market town, as it was in
the old days. Meet the people and characters of yesteryear, experience life as it was in their living rooms and
kitchens; and smell the flowers right in their own gardens. Try out old childrens games, or why not go on an
exploration through-out the museums extensive exhibitions? Pat the horses and watch out for the geese.
Have a pint in the Beer Cellar and enjoy a cup af coffee and a cake in the tea garden. Smell, taste, try - and understand.
Ebeltoft Zoo & Safari
115 acres is a scenic zoo where more than 700 animals enjoy life in a perfect environment with plenty of
room. We avoid the use of tall fences and give the visitor the opportunity to get very close to many of the animals.
Danmarks Saltcenter - Denmark's Salt Center in Randers
Denmark's Salt Centre is a centre of experiences, beautifully situated next to Mariager Fjord, and it is the only
one of its kind in Denmark. Experience 'The Dead Sea': try our healthy salt saturated bath at 37 degrees. It is
almost like being in the real Dead Sea. So don't forget your bathing suit when visiting Denmark's Salt Centre or
the Salt Fun Ride; Join Denmark's first Salt Fun Ride on a race where your senses are excited to the utmost.
All this happens down in the salt mine where you will get to know much more about salt, where it comes from, how it has been extracted, and what part it plays in modern life.
Polar Circle Marathon - Greenland
The run is for the more adventurous, tougher runner that can cope with the cold, ice, snow and steep
ascents over the whole 42 kilometres. It is a hard route, during which the run takes us past ice and snow
apart from when we run on it! The marathon takes place during the beginning of the Greenlandic winter,
however it has yet to fully take hold. We expect lots of ice, sunshine and blue skies as a backdrop to this adventure.

Danish Centre for Urban History The aim of the Centre is to encourage research, to educate researchers and to disseminate the history of
Danish towns. The main focus area is Denmark from the Viking Age to the present day, in an international perspective and at an international level.
National History Museum
The three oldest and most important natural history museums are the Zoological, Geological and Botanical
museums belonging under Copenhagen University, all of which play a part in undergraduate teaching. The
first two have a mixed 200-300-year history and originated through an amalgamation of the university collections and various private collections.
Other natural history museums are the state-owned Jagt- og Skovbrugsmuseum (Museum of Hunting and
Forestry) in Hørsholm (1942), the local authority Zoologisk Museum (Zoological Museum) in Svendborg (1935) and the geological museums of Gram, Fur and Fakse.
Tranquebar
Tranquebar was a Danish colony in India, from 1620-1845, founded by the Danish East India Company. It is
spelled Trankebar or Trangebar in Danish, which came from the native Tamil, Tarangambadi. It was sold to Britain in 1845.
