Launceston, just off the main A30 at the eastern end of Cornwall , is proud to be known as the "Gateway to Cornwall". Launceston is a traditional market town.

  Mousehole   -   Fishing village and Gateway to Mount's Bay
The village is renowned as one of the most picturesque harbours in England. An islet called St Clement's Isle lies 400 metres offshore from the harbour entrance.
  Newlyn  [ wc ]   -   town and fishing port in southwest Cornwall
Newlyn was made famous in the 1880s and 1890s for its Newlyn School artists' colony, including the painters Thomas Cooper Gotch, Albert Chevallier Tayler and Henry Scott Tuke.
Newlyn forms a conurbation with the neighbouring town of Penzance. The principal industry in Newlyn is fishing.

Sardines, surfing, fishing and boating, all have played their part in making Newquay the exciting and vibrant coastal destination it is today. The China Clay Country Park, in a former china-clay pit two miles north of the town, tells the story of the men, women and children who lived, worked and played in the shadow of the clay tips around St Austell.   Saltash   -   the gateway to Cornwall
Saltash is the largest town within the East Cornwall area and is one of the largest in Cornwall. Situated on the west bank of the beautiful river Tamar, facing Plymouth, Saltash acts as a gateway between Cornwall and Devon, whether travelling by road, rail or river. Saltash is home of the spectacular Royal Albert Bridge - designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and completed in 1859, this stunning bridge is a 'must see' for anyone visiting the area. Saltash has easy access to other areas of Cornwall and Devon, from the sandy beaches of Whitsand Bay to the dramatic scenery of both Bodmin Moor (Cornwall) and Dartmoor (Devon), a walker's paradise.   St Just-in-Penwith [ wc ]
St Just is a granite town in a granite peninsula, Britain's most westerly town and the former centre of mining in West Penwith. The countryside of St Just, and that of West Penwith, is some of the best that Britain has to offer. Due west of the town is Cape Cornwall, while the cliff scenery to the north and south is dramatic. The presence of the Gulf Stream on the coast has produced an abundant and exotic flora and fauna. Encompasses the town of St Just and the nearby settlements of Trewellard, Pendeen and Kelynack.   Zennor [ wc ]
Located on the north coast, about six miles north of Penzance. A local legend says that if you sit above Pendour Cove [ a beach about 1 mile northwest of the village of Zennor ] at sunset on a fine summer evening you might hear the singing of Matthew Trewella, who fell in love with a mermaid and followed her out to sea.

  Mount's Bay   -   biggest bay in Cornwall
There are several coastal towns and villages dotted around Mount's Bay of which the largest is Penzance. To the west are Newlyn, Paul, Mousehole and Lamorna, and to the east are Marazion, Perranuthnoe, Praa Sands , Porthleven and Mullion. The bay also incorporates many beaches, coves and features including Prussia Cove, Loe Pool (and Loe Bar), Church Cove, Poldhu Cove and Kynance Cove.

The curves of St Austell & Mevagissey Bays, golden with beaches, a haven for watersports and full of interest; Mevagissey's working fishing harbour, the nearby lazy suntraps of Portmellon & Gorran Haven, Caerhayes Castle proudly gazing across its own beach, the inland castle of Restormel and the River Fowey - from trout stream to the deep-water Port of Fowey town.  And above them all - the white peaks of the China Clay industry above St Austell at the centre of the Cornish Riviera.
