Prestatyn - Virtual Prestatyn -
Prestatyn is the gateway to the North Wales coastal area, and the most easterly of the beautiful North Wales
coastal resorts. The Town Centre is nestled between magnificent sandy beaches and a spectacular hillside,
where mountain air meets salty sea breezes. Uniquely sited with its "shield" of hills and mountains, Prestatyn
boasts a distinctly favourable climate all of its own. It is the perfect setting for that traditional holiday, or well-earned break.
Prestatyn is thought to be the oldest resort along the North Wales coast. Tourism began with the building of
the Chester to Holyhead railway line in 1848. During the 1800s, people flocked to this resort to "Sea Bathe",
lured by the heady descriptions of the air being like wine and honey, and the abundant sunshine being ideal
for arthritis and nervous disorders. So, great beaches, funfairs and the start of the Offa's Dyke National Trail, what more can we say.

and Industrial Museum on the Quay. You can watch garments being made on an 1840 great spinning wheel, then buy them later in the gift shop.
Wrexham - Wrexham City Council
The modern, vibrant town of Wrexham is nestled in the lower Dee Valley between the lush Cheshire plains and the Welsh hills and is surrounded by stunning panoramas, glorious countryside and picturesque
settlements. The area has a wealth of attractions and places to visit. Some of the most popular are Wrexham Parish Church and the two National Trust properties, Erddig Hall and Chirk Castle.
Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansey - See Dylanthomas Dylan Thomas, one of Wales' most famous writers, was born in Swansea. Dylan Thomas Centre has a year
round program of literary events and a restaurant. There is a room of Thomas memorabilia, books about, and
by, the poet and an AV program. A festival is held in the fall, and there is a city trail of landmarks associated with his early life.
Folk Tales
Wales's dramatic, mist-shrouded mountains have always been a powerful stimulus to the storyteller. The
cliffs and bays along the Welsh coast also tell tales - of great storms and holy wells with magical healing powers
The best known collection of these stories is The Mabinogion, a collection of old Welsh tales translated and published by Lady Charlotte Guest in 1849. See The Mabinogion Ancient welsh Tales of legend and myth.
Harvest Trust
Harvest Trust is a charity which organises holidays for children in need from all over England and Wales.
These holidays are specially for 8 to 12 year olds who need a week away, but never get the chance. The holidays are based at our own holiday centre near Cardigan Bay in West Wales, and are arranged in
partnership with primary schools, youth and community groups.
King Arthur - see Legend of King Arthur There's a legion of sites throughout Wales with links to the legendary King Arthur and his Knights of the
Round Table. From north to south, standing stones, caves, hilltop forts and lakes claim their Arthurian adventures.
Legend has it that King Arthur was born locally. Ogmore Castle is the point where it is believed Arthur was
fatally wounded, and the cave where his body was reputed to be hidden is at Coed yr Mwstwr woods. His final resting-place is said to be a little church high on the hills above Pencoed.
Merlin the Magican
Merlin the Magician plays a spellbinding role in Arthurian legend. True to his name, he crops up magically all over Wales, from the craggy peaks of Snowdonia to Carmarthenshire in the south.
Myth & Legends
The Welsh are great storytellers. You'll hear tales of King Arthur and Merlin the Magician, of kingdoms lost
beneath the sea and battles between dragons, of haunted castles and knightly deeds. These captivating tales
don't just spring from a fertile Celtic imagination. They are also inspired by Wales's wonderful landscapes and seascapes. Which may explain why Pembrokeshire is still proud to be known as Gwlad hud a lledrith, 'The
land of magic and enchantment'.
Premier Gardens Wales [ PGW ] A collection of 11 magnificent gardens scattered the length and breadth of Wales, their variety mirroring that
of the landscape in which they are set. There are historic gardens that take their inspiration from the past, and ground-breaking gardens which look to the future.

History of Wales
The Romans mined for gold here, the Tudor dynasty was founded here, and the Normans built castles here.
Each of the major periods of history has left its mark on Wales, some more attractive than others. The scars
of the industrial revolution are now being healed by a forward-looking people with their own National
Assembly. But the sense of past can still be felt all around Wales: from a windy hilltop with a half-ruined castle, to the quiet darkness of a mine miles underground.

Music, Welsh Culture & Entertainment
Since 1906 the Welsh Folk Song Society has done valuable work in collecting and publishing this material.
Choral singing, stemming from the religious revival of the late 18th century, is an extremely popular and
characteristic part of Welsh musical life. Traditional instruments, especially the harp, are still played. The
Welsh National Opera Company and the Welsh Theatre Company are notable contemporary arts companies. Wales also has a number of notable orchestras and an important dance company, Diversions, based in
Cardiff.

Eisteddfod
The National Eisteddfod of Wales can be traced back to 1176 when it is said that the first Eisteddfod was held
, under the auspices of Lord Rhys, at his castle in Cardigan. There he held a grand gathering to which were
invited poets and musicians from all over the country. A chair at the Lord's table was awarded to the best poet and musician, a tradition that prevails in the modern day National Eisteddfod.
