Travel Agent / Organization

 Celestis Inc, Texas, USA
Since the time before recorded history people have looked to the sky with wonder. When humanity first mastered flight we knew that our destiny lay in the heavens above. Space travel and exploration is our greatest adventure -- today and in the future.
Celestis makes possible a new choice in truly unforgettable memorial services. Cremated remains can be launched into space; to orbit around the Earth; to fly to the Moon; or to travel into deep space. Celestis is the world leader in providing these unique space memorial services.
 Memorial Spaceflights
Memorial Spaceflights place a symbolic portion of cremated remains into Earth orbit, Lunar surface or even into deep space. Your loved one will venture into space as part of a real space mission, riding alongside a commercial or scientific satellite. Memorial Spaceflights are made possible through an agreement with leading providers of commercial space launch services [ Space Services can fit as many as 150 lipstick-size containers with ashes on its launches. It places the ashes in the extra space on rockets already being used to launch satellites ].
Space Services Inc. is a Houston, TX based aerospace company and a leader in public participation spaceflight.

 Timothy Leary's Last Trip
Stored in a 9-by-12-inch canister with ashes of Leary, 'Star Trek' creator Gene Roddenberry, space physicist Gerard O'Neill, rocket scientist Krafft Ehricke and others were orbited by Celestis. Each family paid $4,800 (they also get a commemorative video of the launch) to get 7 grams of their loved ones' ashes onto the rocket. The average weight of a cremated human is 5 pounds. Pegasus takes the capsule 300 miles above Earth. "The capsule orbits for a little while, 18 months to 10 years, then it will burn up in the atmosphere. It will be like a shooting star," said Celestis partner Charles Chafer.
