Hereford is situated on the banks of the river Wye and jealously guards its ancient heritage of medieval
architecture and quaint streets, which follow the original medieval pattern. The economy of Hereford is still
largely associated with the surrounding countryside – apples, hops, Wye salmon, vegetables and the white
faced 'Hereford' cattle, which are known worldwide. The Wye, one of the least polluted of British rivers,
flows through the middle of the City and attracts canoeists and anglers from far and wide; the Hereford
Regatta, traditionally held on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday, attracts crews from all over Britain and is one of the top events of its kind.

Bromyard - former market town in north-east Herefordshire
Bromyard was once a centre for growing hops and soft fruit. An annual international rally of town criers
takes place in the town at the Bromyard Spring Festival in May [ a town crier is a person who is employed by a town council to make public announcements in the streets ].
Kington - historic market town
Kington is near the Welsh border in the shadow of Hergest Ridge, and on the River Arrow. It is 21 miles north
-west from Hereford. All round the town there are beautiful panoramic views of the open countryside and the surrounding hills.

Leominster, , is located in the heart of the beautiful border countryside, where England and Wales nudge
each other back and forth along Offa's Dyke. Leominster (pronounced 'Lemster') is an historic market town in

Ross-on-Wye - small market town southeastern Herefordshire

Hereford Cathedral - dates from 1079 - virtual tour possible
The cathedral is dedicated to two patron saints, namely Saint Mary the Virgin and Saint Ethelbert the King. The
latter was beheaded by Offa, King of Mercia in the year 792. The cathedral contains the Mappa Mundi and the world famous Chained Library.
National School of Blacksmithing - Herefordshire College of Technology
Offering Blacksmithing courses, Farriery courses and courses in Metalwork and Welding, the Centre for Rural Crafts was officially opened in May 2000.
