  Costa Brava 
The Costa Brava's 200 km of coastline are a mosaic of Mediterranean villages like L'Escala, Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, which await you with patient expectation, with their rooftops washed by the sun and their feet in the sand, draped in rocky outcroppings and green pines to meet the golden waters of the Mediterranean. The uniqueness of this moving and sudden encounter between mountain and sea is what led the journalist Ferran Agulló to define this coast as the COSTA BRAVA, the "Wild Coast"

  Girona   -   Municipality Girona
Located at the confluence of the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell. It is the capital of the province of the same name and of the comarca of the Gironès.
Girona is a popular destination for tourists and Barcelona day-trippers - the train journey from Barcelona Sants to Girona takes less than two hours. The old town stands on the steep hill of the Capuchins to the west of the river, while the more modern section stands on the plains to the east. Set in the heart of Empordà, the town of Begur and its beaches are one of the most wonderful spots on the Costa Brava. The town boundary takes in the impressive hills of the Begur Massif and an extensive coastline washed by the Mediterranean sea. Begur's old town, home to numerous monuments left as legacies of significant moments in the town's history, together with its eight coves and small beaches, and the Romanesque centre of the village of Esclanyà, make it and its peerless natural surroundings an unbeatable place to visit.

  Blanes   -   Tourism Blanes   -   main town on the Costa Brava
The coast of Blanes has 4 km of different kinds of beaches, the most famous are Blanes beach and S'Abanell beach. Steep rocky cliffs and small inviting coves alternate within its scenery.
Blanes, the gateway to the Costa Brava, is a dynamic, modern, and welcoming city, combining traditions and a great historical legacy with the most up-to-date services and facilities.
The town of Blanes is defined by its beaches and coves, its local-style cuisine, and its numerous, well -conserved buildings and monuments in the old town, such as Santa Maria church, the Gothic fountain and Sant Joan castle.
  Cadaqués   -   largest natural Catalan harbor
No other place similar in size has received so many artists who later became famous, such as Matisse, Picasso, Duchamp, Man Ray, Max Ernst, André Derain, to name but a few.
  Calella de Palafrugell   -   City of Palafrugell 
Located near Palamós in the comarca of Baix Empordà. With around 20,000 inhabitants the largest city in its comarca [kind of county]. Three coastal villages are also part of it: Llafranc, Calella and Tamariu.
  Calella
The lively resort of Calella is located about 20 km further south of Lloret de Mar and only 50 km from Barcelona. Calella consists of one old and one new section that will be connected by a street where a lot of nice restaurants and bars are situated. Most nightclubs are in the new part. Calella is known for its long sandy beach where it is pleasant to stay and where various water sports are.
  Cambrils / Salou [ Costa Dorada ]
If you like small traditional fishing villages than this is a suitable destination for you. Besides the hotels and and new constructions on this site, still much of the original Spanish atmosphere preserved. Cambrils is a sprawling resort with an older neighborhood and a lively tourist center, directly behind the port with a few squares, terraces and shops. For your evening meal you can choose from many restaurants, mostly Spanish fish restaurants. Eastwards on Cambrils is Salou. Alomg the long boulevard you walk in an hour from Cambrils to Salou.
  Castell-Platja d'Aro   -   in the middle of the Costa Brava
The municipality is formed from two parts: Castell d'Aro, an ancient village 3 km inland build around a medieval castle and fortified church. Platja d'Aro was originally a small fishing village on a large 2 km beach. It is now a major resort popular predominantly with Catalans.
Castell d'Aro borders with Calonge to the north, Santa Cristina d'Aro to the west, Sant Feliu to the south and the Coast to the East. See Municipality Platja d'Aro
  Empuriabrava   -   [ Gulf of Roses ]   -   belongs to the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries.
In Empuriabrava You'll find the largest Marina of Europe [2005] with more than 30 km of navigable canals and > 5 000 boat moorings. The Marina is constructed so that, through an ingenious system of streets, roads and canals give almost everywhere a direct access to the water.
Further Empuriabrava is a Eldorado for parachute jumpers because it has an airport where skydiving cost relatively little money.
Platja d'Empúriabrava, the plane sloping beach of fine sand, is about 1.6 kilometers long and one of the widest on the Costa Brava. Empuriabrava has still more beaches.
  Estartit
Estartit has a wide, gently sloping beach and is therefore particularly suitable for families with small children. Nearby you will find crystal clear bays and the famous 7 Iles Medes. Especially these islets have a great appeal on divers because they are known for its beautiful underwater life. You can also find many other water sports such as sailing, surfing and water skiing. Estartit is known for its beautiful flora and fauna. In the center of Estartit is a promenade, a marina, restaurants, shops, bars and entertainment venues.
  Figueres   -   Municipality Figueres
Figueres is located in the north-eastern Catalonia and with a population of 45.000 inhabitants the largest city near the border with France. Located in the center of an extensive fluvial plain, Figueres is the capital of the Alt Empordà, económicocomercial and cultural center. The tourist vocation of the region makes Figueres in the heart of the Costa Brava, one of the most important tourist areas of Catalonia.
  L'Escala   -   Lescala-empuries.com
L´Escala is a fishing village and offers diversity of marine landscapes, from sandy beaches formed by massive coastal dunes to rocky coves and rugged. This landscape lies between the solid and Montgrí Aiguamolls. Recommended Cala Montgo, Riells, beaches typical of the old town and beaches of Council.
L'Escala is also known for its cuisine, especially the anchovies of L'Escala and preserved ancient methods make a visit to the factories of anchovy highly recommended.
Major entertainment events are held throughout the year: Triumvirate Mediterranean Empúries Marathon, the gathering of the Sardana, the feast of the Virgin of Carmen, the Portalblau the Festival Sal, the Feast of the Anchovy and the Gastronomic Fish casserole.
L'Escala also offers the possibility of scuba diving, mountain biking and hiking trails.
  L'Estartit   -   small town and seaside resort
The town is situated between the foothills of the Montgrí Massif and the Mediterranean Sea, and is part of the borough of Torroella de Montgrí, in the Baix Empordà county.
L'Estartit stretches North-South from Cala Montgó, at the southern tip of the Bay of Roses (Badía de Roses) to the Ter River estuary in the Bay of Pals (Badía de Pals). East-West it extends three kilometres inland from the shoreline, and includes the hills of Roca Maura and Torre Moratxa.
A kilometre off shore lies the Illes Medes archipelago, composed of various uninhabited islands. The area has been protected by Natural Park status and is home to many different species of flora and fauna, both above and below the waterline. See Tourist Board Estartit
  Llafranc [ part of the municipality of Palafrugell ]
Because other, simular towns are within walking distance, a trip to this stretch of the Costa Brava offers more than just one beach or promenade. Many domestic tourists come from nearby Barcelona.
Some call it the "Laguna Beach" of Spain due to the rich, beautiful people and amazing homes. The small shops around town are gorgeous offering in-style clothes, great restaurants, and fun entertainment. 
The Hotel Llafranc dominates the main sea promenade and was popular with artists such as Salvador Dali and Ernest Hemingway. The English writer Tom Sharpe is also a resident of Llafranc. Chi-chi bay of Llafranc [ yacht-filled harbour and restaurants ].
  Llanca   -    important fishing port and tourist centre.
Located on the coast between the Cap de Creus and the French frontier and in the middle of unique scenery, it is surrounded on both sides not only by the sea, but by two areas of protected countryside, the Natural Parks of Cap de Creus and of the Albera hills.
Llançà's excellent range of beaches and small, quiet coves, together with the richness of its cultural heritage – ranging from the megalithic (with dolmens and pre-prehistoric remains) to significant examples of pre -Romanesque architecture – make it the ideal place for activity-packed family holidays.   Lloret de Mar   -   Town of Lloret de Mar
Lloret de Mar is in the south of the Costa Brava, 70 Km from Barcelona, and covers 47 Km2 with five main beaches and a total of 7 Km of coastline. The EU has awarded its beaches the Blue Flag, which is a benchmark guaranteeing the highest of standards both in terms of the quality of the water and the sand and of the services.
  Palamós   -   Municipality Palamós
Palamós is situated at the northern end of a large bay, which is popular for swimming, sailing and windsurfing . The town is a major port with one of the last remaining fishing fleets on this part of the mediterranian coast. It is famous for the locally caught prawns
Palamos was founded and recognised as a village on 3 December 1279 by 'Pere el Gran', 'Comte de Barcelona' (Peter III of Aragon). He wanted to found a new port on the coast as the previous royal port in the region at Torroella de Montgrí on the River Ter had silted up.
  Port de La Selva   -   Municipality in the comarca of the Alt Empordà
Located on the northern coast of the Cap de Creus and an important fishing port and tourist centre. This small corner of the Cap de Creus has some of the best beaches on the Catalan coast. Port de la Selva has remained a peaceful village, maintaining the structure of traditional fishing ports. See El Port de la Selva
  Roses / Rosas   -   Town of Roses
Roses is an essentially Mediterranean town with a notable tourist and seafaring tradition. It is situated in a unique natural setting, at the north of the Costa Brava, less than 30 kilometres from the frontier with France, 65 kilometres from Girona and 160 kilometres from Barcelona. 
  Saint Feliu de Guixols   -   Important port and tourist centre
In addition to tourism and the port the cork industry is a traditionally local industry. The town contains a large monastery which now houses the town museum and is a protected historico-artistic monument. The coastline of Sant Feliu de Guíxols spreads over ten kilometers. It also includes many little bays with coves surrounded by pines with rocky or fine sand beaches. The town is engulfed by small mountains, with forests of pine, oak, and cork trees.   Salou   -   tourist capital of the Costa Dorada
Aside from its string of beaches interrupted by rocky coves, and its landscaped promenade, one of the city's main attractions is the Port Aventura resort including the PortAventura Aquatic Park. Aquapolis water park is located in the neighbouring resort of La Pineda. In particular the city is attended by youth from northern European countries such as Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. See Ajuntament de Salou.
  Tamariu
Tamariu is one of three coastal towns belonging to the municipality of Palafrugell. It's south facing on to one of the most sheltered beaches of the Costa Brava. There are three small hotels, some good seafood restaurants, small cafes and bars.
  Tossa de Mar   -
Located on the Girona coast, at half way between the city of Barcelona and the French border, Tossa de Mar is an ancient fishermen's village with an important historical background, that has been transformed during the last 50 years into an emblematic tourist destination of the Costa Brava area. Imagine yourself enjoying the silence of nature, discovering parts of Tossa that you never imagined finding here, areas of great natural beauty with the fragance of pine trees, rosemary and thyme.

Cap de Creus has a morphology with steep coastal erosion resulting from sea and wind, with abundant river valleys flooded by the sea coast which cause an articulated with picturesque coves and rugged headlands, as well as several islands.

During the first weekend in September, Begur transforms itself in order to celebrate the Fira d'Indians and relive a period of history that has left a profound mark on the town and its identity.
