The oldest house on Vlieland is the building that currently houses the ancient municipal museum. The Tromp's Huys, as it is mentioned, dates back to 1575. Early 17th century it expanded to its present size. See Trompshuys.nl.

History of Vlieland

Vlieland has been seperated from the Frisian mainland during a flood in 1287. This flood was part of a process which originated the Wadden Sea.
