  Frisian Maritime Museum
The Frisian Maritime Museum and Sneek Museum of Antiquities are full of memories of Frisian shipbuilding industry and maritime and inland shipping. These museums are situated in a row of historic houses between old canals. In 32 rooms exhibiting more than 15,000 (!) objects you can admire models of ships, paintings, tools, curiosities, maritime ornaments and souvenirs. And let us not forget the original boats, the ice-hall, the ship's cabin, the deck-house and a special collection of silver.

  Mid-Friesland 
Almost every village in Mid-Fryslân is connected through lakes and all sorts of waterways. So it's not to be wondered that water sports play a central role in Mid-Fryslân. Populaire watersport centers like Grou, Aernewald , Terherne and Akkrum are generally known, while also the smaller places like Jirnsum, Warten, Wergea en Aldeboarn are coming up as typical Frisian watersports villages.

The National Model Train Museum houses an extraordinary collection of more than a thousand model trains. It is the largest collection of Dutch models and is included in the Guiness Book of Records.

The Sneekweek is biggest sailing event on European inland waters. Sailing competitions are held in all recognised classes on the Sneekermeer. While these competitions are underway all kinds of festivities take place on the 'Starteiland' and in the centre of Sneek. Convivial terraces, artists, music, markets and fun fairs create a festive atmosphere.

  Wilhelminapark
The Wilhelminapark with its special landscaping, trees, plants and animals attracts many visitors, old and young alike. The park, which was laid out in 1898, includes many interesting trees that have grown to a monumental size. The aviary with its exotic birds and songbirds is a particular treat for children! The Wilhelminapark also has a playground in the middle.
  Zwettebos Woods
Between the cities Sneek and Scharnegoutum. This woodland offers many facilities for delightful hiking and cycling. Its peaceful location along the waterway 'de Zwette'  [ also known as the Sneeker boat canal ] makes it a wonderful alternative to the hustle and bustle of the city.

  Eleven City Ice Skating Race   -   Elfstedentocht.nl 
This race covers a route of almost 250 kilometres. The route takes participants from the capital of Friesland Leeuwarden to Sneek, IJlst, Sloten, Stavoren, Hindeloopen, Workum, Bolsward, Harlingen, Franeker and Dokkum and then back to Leeuwarden.
