  Drôme des collines
A horizon of shades of green, shaped in round and soft forms ; houses built with river pebbles ; a landscape crossed by streams and covered in white and rose-coloured orchards in spring. On the East bank of the Rhône, the vineyards of the renowned Hermitage cover the hillsides. Hauterives, Saint-Donat, Romans and Tain l'Hermitage are obligatory stops.
  Drôme Provençale
This is a land devoted to the five senses ; the accent is already that of Mistral and Pagnol. Olives, lavender, grapes [ côtes du Rhône and coteaux duTricastin ], truffles, nougat and apricots make of that area a land of delicacy which is very difficult to resist. From Montélimar to Buis-les-Baronnies, by way of Dieulefit, Nyons and Grignan, Provence, unexpectedly, awaits.

Saint-Bonnet, historic birthplace of the "pétanque" bowl, where production is still going on, has naturally created a museum, achieved thanks to the Boule OBUT Company.

Cuisine   -   Cooking

The capital of Rhone Alpes is seen as a gastronomic centre of France and specialities served in its traditional bouchons include Lyon sausage, special salami (known here as "rosette"), tripe and quenelles. In the east of the region the food has an Alpine flavour with dishes such as fondue, raclette common, gratin dauphinois and gratin savoyard. The region is also famous for its Bresse poultry and the many varieties of cheese including Tomme de Savoie, Bleu de Bresse, Reblochon, Saint-Marcellin and Vacherin.

Wines in this region include the very famous Beaujolais, Côtes du Rhône and Savoy wine.
The Viognier is a special grape from the northern part of the Rhone, offering a pronounced aromatic, almost perfumed wine.
From the southern Rhone are juicy, mild white wines such as Vacqueyras. Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise, a sweet-Rhone wine, is one of the few wines that actually tastes like grapes.
Chartreuse liqueur is made in the region.
