Le Nogentais [ Aube ]
This pastoral Nogentais really is the land of romanticism. It's a country of golden fields that has given rise to
famous adventures, and even to everlasting love. Héloïse and Abélard didn't ….get it wrong. In 1129, they
came to found the Abbaye du Paraclet to the south-east of Nogent-sur-Seine. Admittedly, the two lovers
were separated for a long time, but it is here that they came to be united in death - for seven centuries, until
the Revolution brought them to Le Père Lachaise, in Paris, where they have been inseparable. In one of his
most famous novels, "L'Education sentimentale", Gustave Flaubert, with equivalent zeal, described Nogent-sur-Seine which he was in the habit of visiting regularly.
The Pays d'Othe [ Aube ] - with its orchards and its cider that's full of body
A region that has remained just as natural and beautiful as it was in the early days. So today, where the
Aube and the Yonne meet, this countryside with its pleasant hills, with its gentleness, is still like a little earthly
paradise. There are so very many long walks, mountain bike rides and horse rides in the forests of tall oaks,
sycamore, maple, beech and wild cherry. The typical villages of brick-coloured houses that you'll see as you
come round the valleys are there to be explored. It's so nice to wander around, and to have a rest in the
shadow of a bell-tower or one of the old wash houses. You can take advantage of being here to uncork a
nice bottle of farm cider, it'll be a nice amber and as fizzy as you could wish. For this is where the orchards
are crammed with luscious fruit. The apples have still gottheir authentic taste and shape. In the autumn,
people still press them in the traditional way, and there are quite some celebrations when this happens.

Rheims, situated an hour from Paris at crossroads with the European motorways, has always been a key town / central to history ever since Antiquity.
The richness of its past reveals itself in its varied and prestigious architectural heritage like Notre Dame
