Moon built a light monoplane that he flew from a field near Eastleigh thus bringing aviation further south to Southampton...
  Southampton Maritime Museum
The Maritime Museum is on Town Quay Road, in the medieval building known as the Wool House. It was Southampton's first public museum and was opened in 1912.
The museum contains displays relating to Southampton's history as a trading and passenger port. There is a collection of large model ships, including a model of the Queen Mary.
