Benidorm - Official tourism site of Benidorm
An authentic tourist resort, with clean, golden beaches of outstanding quality. Modern buildings and wide
avenues, hotels to suit everyone, a warm climate encouraging visitors to come 365 days a year. Whether you
want an active or a restful and relaxing holiday - it's yours for the asking, day or night. Nightlife or beachlife.
Benidorm, with the theme park Terra Mítica and other attractions like Terra Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia
has become a favourite place to go for Mediterranean civilisations, fauna and nature. A fun place for culture, for all ages.
Cabo Roig - in the hot heat of Southern Costa Blanca
It is in the Alicante Province, yet close to the border of Murcia, La Manga and the Mar Menor.
Denia - Ajuntament de Denia [ Town Hall Denia ]
Dénia, halfway between Alicante and Valencia, the judicial seat of the comarca of Marina Alta. The ferry to
Ibiza and the other Balearic Islands departs from Dénia daily. The city also serves as the northern terminus for
a picturesque metre gauge railway line through the mountains from Alicante [ locally known as the Limón Express ], run by FGV.
El Campello - Ayuntamiento de El Campello
El Campello has a 23 kilometre coastline with beaches ranging from the Muchavista Playa which borders on
the much visited San Juan Playa to rocky coves such as the Cova del Llop Marí and the cove of Morro Blanc. There is a nudist beach in the rocky Lloma de Reixes cove.
Elche
Visitors to Elche have a wide range of places of interest and activities to choose from. If you want to know a
bit more about our history and culture we recommend an enjoyable stroll along the monumental route. In just a
few hours you will be able to see our most emblematic monuments as well as visiting interesting museums.
If wildlife is what most interests you, we suggest an ecological route taking in Elx marshes, of great
ecological value. Neither must you forget a visit to Elche's beaches or the beautiful palm plantations that make up the Elx Palm Grove, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. See Turismedelx.com. The City of Elche is in a truly privileged location. 20 kilometres from Alicante and 50 kilometres from Murcia, it is
in a strategic position forming, together with other nearby towns, the southern axis of the Mediterranean Arc, a district that boasts great dynamism in both demographic and economic terms.
Gandia - city and municipality
Gandia is located on the Costa del Azahar, 65 km south of Valencia and 96 km north of Alicante.
It was an important cultural and commercial centre during the 15th and 16th centuries: in the 15th it had a
university. It was home to several important poets including Ausiàs March, and produced the novelist Joanot
Martorell, but it is perhaps best known for the Borgias, through their family title, Duke of Gandia.
Gran Alacant Gran Alacant is a beautiful town located on the hills of Santa Pola in Alicante (Costa Branca), characterized
by a beautiful horizon of mountains, white beaches, palm trees and a pleasant Mediterranean climate.
At Gran Alacant there is vast and beautiful nature park. One can walk for hours, to rest at a lookout where
you find rare birds in the ponds or to discover the park by mountain trails arountd it. For the persistent hiker
there is a beautiful 2 hour beach road taking you past pristine beaches and natural beauty to the beautiful
town of Santa Pola. Within a radius of 30 km you will also find four golf courses and for the extreme athlete
you have a paragliding school in Gran Alacant where theu teach all the tricks of paragliding.
Guardamar del Segura - Ajuntament de Guardamar del Segura
At the end of the 19th century the town experienced serious problems as a result of the advancing sands.
Planting rows of pine trees, which now give Guardamar del Segura its uniquely striking combination of
woodlands and beach, have halted the advance. Today the area is a 840 hectare Forest Park called the
'Dunas de Guardamar', and has been declared an Area of Natural Interest. The Reina Sofía Park is a good
place to walk and admire the scenery within a magnificent setting of native flora and fauna. The park, with its
lakes, waterfalls and trails, is beautifully designed. Guardamar's 14-kilometre coastline has fine sandy beaches.
Javea / Xabia - Xabia.org - inorthern part of Costa Blanca
Jávea, framed by the Capes of La Nau and Sant Antoni on the shores of the Mediterranean sea, is a town of
great beauty, magical landscapes, a haven of peace and serenity. Here, Nature has been so generous and
splendid that it is difficult to find a similar place. The sea is pure blue, clean and revealing. The mountain,
washed by the Mediterranean sea, offers us lush vegetation and many local species of flora and fauna.
La Marina - coastal village administered by the city of Elche
It features non-urban beaches, dune systems and large pine forests. The main beach is 1,100 meters long, although it continues south to the beach in Los Tusales of Guardamar del Segura. See http://turismedelx.com/
Santa Pola
The Roman Porutus Illcitanues is a populous and lively seaside city with almost 15 kilometres of fine sandy beaches.
The Salinas (salt-flats) are another interesting aspect of Santa Pola. Exploitation of the salt-flats began at the
end of the 19th century and they extended over an 880 hectare area that produced 100,000 tons of salt per
year. The area is now a Nature Reserve where many migratory birds pass the winter. The reserve is also the natural habitat of several aquatic species such as albatrosses and herons.
Torrevieja - Torrevieja.com There are several magnificent sandy beaches including Los Locos, El Acequión, Los Náufragos, La Mata and
El Cura. The southernmost beach, the Náufragos beach, offers a range of amenities. The Cura beach is
situated between the Levante dock and the Punta Carral. Across from the Punta Carral is the Los Locos

University of Alicante - Universidad de Alicante
The University of Alicante was created in October 1979. It was formed on the basis of the Centre for
University Studies (CEU) which had come into being in 1968. In this way, Alicante recuperated university
studies which had disappeared in 1834 when its predecessor, the University of Orihuela, closed after two centuries of education.
The University of Orihuela was created by Papal Bull in 1545 and kept its doors open during two centuries (1610-1808).
