National Parks / Nature Park

 National Park Veluwezoom 
Just north of Arnhem lies one of the largest uninterrupted nature reserves in the Netherlands: the National Park Veluwezoom and Deelerwoud. This area covers around 6,000 hectares and still carries the marks of the ice age. Characteristic features of this landscape are its elevated situation, hills that stretch into the distance and a rich variety of woods, heaths and drifting sand areas. The southern end of the reserve is presided over by the imposing country estates that have been built there over time.
Monumental edifices, stately avenues and playful little brooks characterize the landscape. The central and northern parts of the area on the other hand are much wilder and more empty. Extensive forests and heaths form the landscape here.
Not only is the landscape itself very varied but it is also home to a diverse range of different plants and animals including red deer, wild boar, badgers and reptiles. At the same time the area is an important nesting site for many rare birds. The park provides excellent scope for walking and cycling trips: dozens of routes have been signposted.
 Natuurpark RijNiers Park - future border crossing park
Covering 25 by 25 kilometers near Nijmegen and De Niers near the german town of Kleef. In this region you will find unique nature like the Ooij polder near Nijmegen, aldus een woordvoerder van RijNiers Park. There are also museums like the Bible Open Air Museum and the Afrika Museum.
