 Eleven City Ice Skating Race - Elfstedentocht
This race covers a route of almost 250 kilometres. The route takes participants from the capital of Friesland Leeuwarden to Sneek, IJlst, Sloten, Stavoren, Hindeloopen, Workum, Bolsward, Harlingen, Franeker and Dokkum and then back to Leeuwarden.
 Frisian Maritime Museum
The Frisian Maritime Museum and Sneek Museum of Antiquities are full of memories of Frisian shipbuilding industry and maritime and inland shipping. These museums are situated in a row of historic houses between old canals. In 32 rooms exhibiting more than 15,000 (!) objects you can admire models of ships, paintings, tools, curiosities, maritime ornaments and souvenirs. And let us not forget the original boats, the ice-hall, the ship's cabin, the deck-house and a special collection of silver.

Almost every village in Mid-Fryslân is connected through lakes and all sorts of waterways. So it's not to be wondered that water sports play a central role in Mid-Fryslân.  Wilhelminapark
The Wilhelminapark with its special landscaping, trees, plants and animals attracts many visitors, old and young alike. The park, which was laid out in 1898, includes many interesting trees that have grown to a monumental size. The aviary with its exotic birds and songbirds is a particular treat for children! The Wilhelminapark also has a playground in the middle.
