The town of Boyle is home to one of Ireland's principal lakeside attractions, Lough Key Forest Park, which offers nature walks, ring forts, cruising, fishing, a bog-garden, an old ice-house, picnic grounds and a fully-serviced caravan and camping site. Herds of deer wander freely through the park.

Cycling route through counties Roscommon, Longford, Westmeath, Meath and Louth. It commences at Rathcroghan, Co. Roscommon and can be followed out the county along the N5 as far as Tarmonbarry or along the N61 as far as Athlone. The cycle route follows the route of the route of the legendary Táin Bó Cuailgne or Cattle-Raid of Cooley.

The Arigna area of Roscommon and the adjacent mountains of Co Leitrim were famous for coal and iron mining. From as early as the 15th century iron was mined in the area. Coal mining became more prominent in the 19th century.
  Cruachan Aí Heritage Centre, Tulsk, Co. Roscommon
Cruachan is one of the most important and best preserved Celtic Royal Sites in Europe, and the medieval village of Tulsk, Co. Roscommon is the setting for the new centre.
An amazing array of archaeological remains are located within a four mile radius of the centre, dating from the Stone Age to the historic period, and these are interpreted in our bright, modern exhibition rooms.

  Green Heartlands Cycle Route   -   a 137.2 mile long cycle route around south Roscommon
The route is covering Kiltoom, Kielty, Birchgrove, Ballyforan, Athleague, Roscommon, Knockcroghery, Derryglad and Four Roads. The route has been split into stages so that the cycle can be spread over 7 days with an average of 19 miles covered per day. This gives cyclists an opportunity to see the countryside and spend some time around the County thus encouraging further interest in the amenities the County has to offer.
