Castles of County Limerick
Michael John Carroll (Author), Alan Langford (Illustrator) The major historical sources differ as to the number of castles and fortified
houses that existed in County Limerick. Some state that there were 405, while others give the number of 110 as being built during the period 1200 to 1700 C.E.
There are over 140 mentioned in this book, although it does not claim to be a definitive work. Further research is needed especially on the role of the Knights
Templar. Those interested in the history of County Limerick will discover a substantial amount of information which has not previously been gathered
together. Its 244 pages include a wide ranging historical introduction, colour photographs, a map and line drawings.
