Cork is the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland. It is a Regional Capital, at the centre of an area of outstanding natural beauty and Ireland's premier tourism region.

County Cork is the most southerly and largest of the modern counties of Ireland with many beaches and sea cliffs along it's coast.

The city is built on the River Lee which divides into two channels at the western end of the city. The city centre is located on the island created by the channels.
