Located east of mainland Greece and Magnesia, northeast of Euboea and northwest of the island of Skyros. The Municipality of Alonissos includes the other islands of Adelfopoulo, Gioura, Kyra Panagia, Pelagos, Persitera, Piperi, Psathoura and Skantzoura.
 Skiathos  - city and a small island and next to Skopelos
Skiathos consists of Skiathos Town [ main town ] and the communities of Koukounaries, Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos and Troullos. Skiathos is the westernmost island in the Sporades group of islands. The mainland of Greece along with Magnesia is to the west.
 Skopelos Island  -  Island of Skopolos
Skopelos is also the name of the main port and the municipal center of the island. The other communities of the island are Glossa and Neo Klima.
 Skyros  -  Skyros Island  -  southernmost island of the North Sporades, southeast of Kimi
The capital of the island is Skyros, which is also called Chora by the locals. It is situated to the north – east of the eastern side of the foot of the mountain Olympus. It is 10 kilometers from Linaria, the main port of the island situated in the center of the western coast. The town of Skyros is built amphitheatrically on the sloaps of a hill under the shadow of a medieval castle and the Byzantine monastery of Saint George of Skyros. It is a typical island city with Agean - style architecture with its own particular color.
Many seaside resorts frame the city of Skyros. The community of "Magazia", which has one of the finest beaches, is nearby. There are also the beaches the beaches of Molos and Para Kambos. The tourist resort of Aspous lies between the town and Linaria. Linaria, apart from being the port of the island is a picturesque, amphitheatrically community which is very popular with the tourists. Near Linaria there are the beaches of Kalamitsa, Acherounes and Pefkos.
Skyros is part of the Euboea Prefecture [ or Negopronte ] the second largest of the Greek Aegean Islands and the second largest Greek island overall in area

History of Greece

Greece has a history stretching back more than 4.000 years. The people of the mainland, called Hellenes, organised great naval and military expeditions, and explored the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, going as far as the Atlantic Ocean and the Caucasus Mountains. One of those expeditions, the siege of Troy, is narrated in the first great European literary work, Homer's Iliad. Numerous Greek settlements were founded throughout the Mediterranean, Asia Minor and the coast of North Africa as a result of travels in search of new markets.
