Spetses town - capital of the island and the port
The mansions of the old captains with their characteristic architecture, Byzantine churches and the streets
covered with cobble stones constitute samples of the traditional architecture that characterize the town.
Dapia - Central square of Spetses
Around the Dapia, not far from where the ferry docks, there are many tavernas and cafeterias. In the
surrounding buildings a lot of rooms can be rent. This historic plaza was once the meeting place of the fighters against the Turks in 1821. The guns of the revolution are still guarding the square.
Beaches Spetses - most popular beaches are Agia Anargyri and Agia Paraskevi
In the south beaches like Agios Mamas, Agios Nikolaos, Agia Marina. In the north Kounoupitsa, Ligoneri, Vrellou and Agia Paraskevi.

The name Spetses comes from the italian word 'Spezzie', used by the Venetians Dominators [ island of
fragrances ]. In ancient times, Spetses was known as "Pityoussa" due to the many pine trees that cover the hills.
