The Jura folds are located north of the main Alpine orogenic front, and are being continually deformed, accommodating the northwards compression due to Alpine folding. The highest peak in the Jura range is Crêt de la Neige with 1717.6 meters.

Overhanging Geneva, in front of the Leman Lake, and located in the Alps and not far from the Mont Blanc, two villages Mijoux and Lélex, met to form a resort : Monts-Jura. Nested in the valley of Valserine, the natural environment of the Haut-Jura mountain range provides three skiable domains : 1 area for the nordic skiing and 2 other areas for the Alpine skiing.
