Brijuni
The Maker intended to shape a part of the Earth to the image of Heaven. That is how Istria came into being,
like a garden covered with magnificent trees and vast meadows, washed by the deep blue sea, appealing
people to a happier life. But the jealous devil destroyed his work by tearing the bag in which the angel was
carrying the unused stones. Thousands of rocks scattered around the Istrian land making it a land of
contrasts, gentle and rough, fertile and barren, sunny and cloudy. The desolated angels gathered the pieces
of Heaven remaining among the scattered rocks and protected them by the sea waves and created Brijuni.
Mljet
Mljet is an elongated island, with an average width of 3 km, 37 km long. It is an Island of great diversity and
contrast, and "Mljet" National Park covers his northwestern part with an area of 5.375 ha of protected land
and surrounding sea. This area was proclaimed as national park 11 November 1960 and represents the first institutionalized attempt to protect an original ecosystem in the Adriatic.
Krka
The Krka National Park is located entirely within the territory of Šibnik-Knin County and encompasses an area
of 109 square kilometers along the Krka River: two kilometers downriver from Knin to Skradin and the lower part of the Ąikola River
Risnjak
Risnjak is a mountain area demarcated by the road Gornje Jelenje - Gerovo - Crni Lug - Mrzla Vodica - Gornje
Jelenje. To the west of Risnjak stands the massif of Snjeznik, to the north the Kupa valley, to the east Mt.
Drgomalj, and to the south the main road connecting Zagreb and Rijeka. The central part of Risnjak, covering
32 sq. km of the highest ground and most interesting territory, was proclaimed a national park in 1953

Fazana - 8 km north of Puna
In Fažana and its surroundings Roman patricians built their villas and villae rusticae and processed olives and
grapes. The village called Vasianum in Roman times, situated across the Brijuni archipelago was named after the workshop for making amphorae and various pottery.
Funtana
Funtana is a fishermen's, agricultural and tourist village on the western coast of Istria, settled between tourist
towns Vrsar and Porec. This territory is spreading from Zeiena Laguna in the west till Valkanela in the south.
This is the part of the istrian coast abounding with bays, peninsulas and islands. Funtana has some 1000
inhabitants. Funtana is surrounded by hilly country covered with vineyards, olive groves, fields and meadows, oak and pine forests that are frequently spreading till shoreline.

Along the 70 kilometers of indented coastline, in coves and bays, lie five picturesque towns. The largest and

Meet in de nabijheid de plaatsen Plomin, Krsan, Pican en Labin [ in the hinterland of Rabac, at a height of 320 m
above sea level - old mining town. Today, when the mines have been closed down, this town, where all its

Rovinj

Rijeka, seat of the Primorsko-goranska County, is located in a region with an unusual link between the sea
and mountains [ from Mount Učka across to the Goran mountains as far as the Velebit ]. West of Rijeka is the
Opatija Riviera, the oldest and most popular Croatian tourist destination. East of the city lies is the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera.
The Kvarner islands: Krk (connected with the mainland by a bridge), Cres, Losinj and Rab are in the immediate
vicinity. Platak, a winter resort favoured by the people of Rijeka, is within reach. Rijeka, with its good sea
connections, regular line to the islands by catamaran, bus and railway stations, as well as the airport on the
island of Krk, is easily accessible. It is only half an hour drive away from the border pass to Slovenia; one hour from Trieste in Italy, and ninety minutes to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb.
Sibenik - Sibenik Tourist Association Šibenik is a historic town in Croatia, located in the center of the Croatian Adriatic coast in a picturesque and
indented bay around the mouth of the river Krka, one of the most beautiful Karst rivers in Croatia.
Šibenik is the administrative, political, economic, social and cultural center of a county which stretches along
the 100 kilometer long belt between the Zadar and Split Rivieras, reaching up to 45 kilometers deep into the hinterland.
This region is characterized by limestone mountain crests (the Trtar chain stretches towards the south-east,
and in front of it is the lower Šibenik-coastal chain), small valleys (Gornje and Donje polje) and plateaus - the
bases of agriculture. The vegetation is mostly spruce in the hinterland, and maquis on the coast and islands.
The Šibenik region has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers cooled by the maestral breeze, and dry winters.
Split - Split Tourist Board
Split, on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, is the second-largest city of Croatia. The area around Split
includes the surrounding seaside towns as well. Split is a link to numerous Adriatic islands and the Apennine peninsula. Split is also one of the oldest cities in the area.

Trogir is situated in the middle of Dalmatia, on the Adriatic coast. Due to its position and natural protection, it is one of the most popular sea-ports and destination for nautical tourists.
