  Flemish Art Collection
The Flemish Art Collection is a grouping of three art-historical museums in Flanders: the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the Groeninge Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. Together they provide a nice overview of art production in the Southern Netherlands and Belgium from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, and this in an international context. Ghent Festival of Flanders has established itself as one of the most prominent cultural events. In addition to countless cathedrals, abbeys and belfries that provide a unique setting for musical events, there is a tourist infrastructure of international appeal, second only to the acclaimed hospitality of the Flemish people.
Each year, in September and October, interested visitors are welcome to over 180 concertsin more than 43 cities and communes in East Flanders. The concerts take place in historic sites, e.g. Ghent's magnificent St. Bavo Cathedral, the splendid opera house, the somewhat mystic 'Bijloke' site, the beautiful Royal Conservatory of Ghent… and on the stages of the finest concert halls.  And there's more celebrating on the streets and in the squares, places you can reach on foot, on bicycle or by boat.

The first edition of the festival was organised by Studio Skoop and the University Filmclub in January 1974.
