The island of Kyushu is the southernmost of the four main islands of
Japan and very mountainous.
On the island lies the Aso (1,592 m), the most active volcano in Japan.
Other active volcanoes are the Sakurajima [in Kagoshima] and ounces [in
Nagasaki].
Prefectures Kyushu: Chikuzen, Chikugo, Hizen, Higo, Buzen, Bungo, Hyūga, Osumi, and Satsuma.
Main town on the island is Fukuoka.

Kagoshima Prefecture
Kagoshima prefecture is one of Japan's leading tourist destination blessed with tourist resources such as the

Kumamoto Prefecture

Nagasaki Prefecture
Nagasaki is gifted with a very unique coastline and a mild climate, boasting irresistible hot springs and, thanks
to the strong current of its seas, some of the very best seafood in the country. And because all of that it is renowned as a first-rate tourist destination.
During the 250 years-long Japanese Isolation Period promulgated in 1641, Nagasaki acted as the only window
to the rest of the world thanks to its trade port. An indirect effect of that policy was to endow the region with
a unique culture; traditional Nagasaki arts, crafts and foods are all renowned for their touch of exoticism, and
the city's landscape is a notable mixture of Japanese, European and Chinese styles.

Ōita Prefecture is famous for its hot springs, particularly those in and around the city of Beppu, known as the 'hells', or jigoku.

Saga Prefecture
Saga is blessed with natural beauty. In the north is the Genkai Sea and in the south, the Ariake Sea. In
addition, the Sefuri Mountain Range is located in the north of the Prefecture and the vast Saga Plains in the
south. Plenty of flowers and trees bloom all over Saga, presenting a variety of seasonal impressions.

Beppu [ Ōita Prefecture ]
Beppu is a busy passenger port with regular ferry links through the inland sea to Osaka and several other destinations.
Fukuoka Served by an extensive rail network including the Shinkansen "Bullet"train, as well as the expressways,
Fukuoka is the best city known as a base for a trip in Japan. The city provides easy access to beautiful
nature like popular hot springs or volcanic mountains, and amusement places such as Huis Ten Bosch. The Fukuoka City Subway is the only line in Japan that directly linked to a station and an airport.

Kagoshima [ city ] - Southern gateway to Japan
Kagoshima lies at the southwestern tip of the Kyūshū island and the largest city in the prefecture of the same
name. It's nicknamed the 'Naples of the Eastern world' for its bay location, hot climate and impressive stratovolcano, Sakurajima.

Kanoya
Kanoya City is located on the Osumi peninsula, south of Sakurajima and north of Cape Sata, It is an agricultural community and famous for black beef and black pork. See Kanoya City.
Kitakyushu - industrial center
Located midway between Tokyo and Shanghai. The city was born from the merger of Moji, Kokura, Tobata, Yahata and Wakamatsu, centered around the ancient feudal city of Kokura. See City of Kitakyushu.

Kumamoto
The capital of Kumamoto Prefecture, Kumamoto City is located at the heart of the island of Kyushu in
southwestern Japan. It is the 15th largest Japanese city and is well known for being the site of Kumamoto Castle, one of the finest castles in all of Japan.
Apart from Kumamoto Castle, Kumamoto City boasts of the stunning 65-hectare Suizen-ji Gardens and the
Hosokawa Residence, one of the best-preserved samurai mansions in the country. It is also home to the
Shimada Museum of Art, which contains samurai artifacts, particularly those related to the legendary
swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, as well as the Kumamoto Prefectural Art Museum which houses replicas of
the elaborate kofuns that were excavated in the prefecture, and the Kumamoto Prefectural Traditional Crafts
Center where visitors can learn more about the various Japanese crafts, including the Higo inlay, which Kumamoto is famous for, and the former residence of renowned Japanese writer Lafcadio Hearn.
Miyazaki - capital city of Miyazaki Prefecture and tourist resort
Located on the coast and popular with Japanese tourists. The city offers attractions like the SeaGaia resort
and event center, the Phoenix Zoo, and many large hotels and public baths [ onsens ]. The city is also a
primary shopping destination for eastern Kyushu residents [ coming from smaller towns around the city ].

Nagasaki was founded by the Portuguese in the second half of the 16th century on the site of a small fishing
